It has only been in the last few years that I have really started to enjoy physics. When I was at school I really didn’t like science much and I only did the three sciences up to GCSE – I didn’t do physics at A-level. It wasn’t until my final year at university doing my degree in mathematics that I got interested in physics and I chose to study theoretical physics as it has a lot of maths in and my physics knowledge at the time wasn’t very good. My favourite subjects were quantum mechanics and relativity – which is how I became interested in particle physics. I like physics because it investigates and explains how everything around us works, from tiny particles to massive planets, stars and galaxies in the universe – which I think is amazing – even though it took me a long time to realise how cool it is! 🙂
