Considering that I could buy at least two EV3, probably a quite sophisticated robot to use in a demonstrator during open days in the physics department. Or I could buy the large version of the LEGO ATLAS detector…

My plan is to build an experiment out of it called a Watt Balance — it can be used to calculate the value of very important number called Planck’s constant. Planck’s constant is the ratio between the energy of a particle of light and its frequency.

I would buy all the parts needed to make a Watt balance out of Lego, and a small computer to help people record and analyse the data from the experiment. I and my colleagues would then take the experiment to local schools, and science festivals, and get people to try it for themselves!

I’d like to get one or two Lego Mindstorms (EV3) kits so I can take them in to local schools in Merseyside and run after school robotics and coding clubs. I thing being able to code is really important and what better way to learn than by building your own robot! 😀 You can check out the kits here: http://www.lego.com/en-gb/mindstorms/?domainredir=mindstorms.lego.com
